230907 Guilt and Shame

 Guilt and Shame

Guilt and shame, Guilt and shame

How to handle Guilt and shame?

Do we hide it? Do we run?

Do we cover sins we've done?

Do we make excuses - lame?

Do we try to dodge all blame?

Do we play the victim card

Instead of facing truths too hard?

Our guilt can take tremendous tolls

And shame can crush our very souls

For sin can cause the scales to tip

Towards ruin of relationship

Not only with the ones we love

But with ourselves and God above

How to get rid of guilt's deep pain?

How do we wash the stain of shame?

Of course, your word, God holds the key

For only Christ can set us free

Your word convicts, yes, that is true

No condemnation comes from you

For with repentance of our sin

Our Lord's forgiveness can begin

Now, each of us must do our part

To come to Him with contrite heart

And Jesus' blood will wash us white

So guilt and shame will lose its bite

Then, once that's done, there's one step more

To give God thanks and sin no more

Psalm 34:4-5

I sought the Lord and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.

Romans 8:1

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

Romans 10:11

For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame."

2 Corinthians 7:10

1 John 1:9
