230913 Seeing the Future

Seeing the Future

Oh, to have a crystal ball

My future for to see

Would it fill my heart with dread

'Bout some calamity?

Or rather, would I jump for joy

For blessings round the bend

How would I live life differently

If I could see the end?

For knowing hurt was coming nigh

My soul to fear would bow

But waiting for some future bliss

Devalues here and now

Thus, if we knew the future

We might plot to make it so

Or plan how to avoid it

But our God says, "Let it go!"

Surrender to me all your plans

Your future and your past

For it is in my loving hands

You'll find your peace at last

Your future does not hold the key

To happiness or strife

And trying to control it

Is no way to live your life

Live only in this moment

For that's all you're guaranteed

Then, cherish every minute

And put God's will in the lead

So, whatever circumstances bring

Whatever's down the way

Each step feels like an easy stroll

We walk through day by day

And worries change to gratitude

Our future rests with You

And we'll have lived our life in full

As you've called us to do

Matthew 6:34

"Therefore,  do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself; sufficient for the day is its own trouble."

Proverbs 3:5-6

Jeremiah 29:11

Matthew 6:25-27
