Hidden


Do you ever feel you want to hide

To look at life from the outside

To blend into the scenery 

For everyone to let you be


With others, don't want to converse 

Just stay in your own universe 

You want to simply be alone

Not answer door, or texts, or phone


There's times that is okay to be

To rest and recharge battery

To be alone with your own thoughts 

Recover from all battles fought 


But, if it's what you often do

That's really not how God made you 

Created you with need to be

With others in community 


An introvert, you just might be

Most of my life that described me

Not what I'm talking about here

Let's see if I can make it clear


The hidden ones who make the choice 

To hide away without a voice

Don't want to interact at all

Not be with others,  just withdraw 


We all have seasons when that's true

But if that's what you always do

Perhaps there's more that's going on

Might feel that you just don't belong


Or maybe it just seems okay

Hidden alone day after day 

We're asked to be Christ's hands and feet

Can't serve others if you retreat


Don't be apart, but be a part

To get "out there," but where to start

Perhaps it starts with wanting to

That being "out there" has value


"Out there" can be a daunting place

Judgement and criticism face

But also face comradary

"Out there" is place where friends will be


The hard truth's it's not all 'bout you

God gave you gifts you're supposed to use

Not keep them hidden on a shelf

Or use them only for yourself


You've hidden talents God bestowed

Use them, not hide them all alone

They're meant for sharing, enjoying too

God-given gifts, unique to you 


The world needs just what you can give

For we have but one life to live 

So don't stay hidden, come in the light

World with you in it is indeed bright


1 Peter 4:10

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace


Romans 12:6

Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them...


Matthew 18:20

For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them


1 John 1:7

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another...


Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

How Did I Get Here? How did I get here? I don't know Seemed sometimes fast, other times slow Though, does not matter what the pace Still wonder how came to this place How did I reach this point in time? Reality of it's so sublime For most of journey was uphill Through hard fought land, yet, I'm here still How did I get from there to here? In baby steps year after year?
