Imprisoned
What vice are you indebted to?
What sin does hold your prison key?
What power has control of you?
What has ensnared - won't let you free?
Is prison cell built of conceit?
Each brick made up of haughty pride
Or trapped in web made of deceit?
Spun stronger every time you lied
Stronghold one of dependency
On substance or one close to you?
Are earthly lusts what you can't flee
No matter what you try to do?
Perhaps it's idleness you fight
Much time spent in mindless pursuit
Or coveting others, your plight
Any number of forbidden fruit
Your will, Satan's put shackles on
They're binding both your hands and feet
Can't run away; chained like a con
All effort ends up in defeat
The only way you can break free
Is not by your own strength or will
But, to seek God on bended knee
Through prayer, God's own strength, he'll instill
It comes when you repent your sin
Next, totally surrender all
Then, transformation will begin
And strongholds will crumble and fall
Perhaps won't happen right away
But slowly, God will make you new
And those vices will lose their sway
Won't want to do what used to do
You'll be transformed from inside out
For Holy Spirit dwells inside
Dramatic change will leave no doubt
That divine power has been applied
What e're your struggle, the Lord seek
Repent to him with honesty
He'll bring you strength when you feel weak
And lead you on to victory
1 Corinthians 10:13
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape that you may be able to endure it.
John 8:36
Whom the Son shall set free is free indeed
1 John 4:4
Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
James 4:7
