231019 "Sonny" Day
"Sonny" Day
The sun is shining warm and clear
It cuts through the cool breeze
The brightness makes me squint my eyes
And causes me to sneeze
A day that's filled with sunshine
Seems to lighten loads I bear
I've a sunny disposition
When the weather is this fair
Conversely, when the storm clouds come
Dark skies darken my mood
No longer have bright outlook
But, instead I tend to brood
How curious, subtracting light
Can impact me this way
Yet, when the sun hides behind clouds
Does it really go away?
It's still shining as always does
Something's just blocked my view
So I can't see or feel it
Thus, my countenance is blue
Sweet Jesus is the Son of Light
I see him the same way
If I just keep my eyes on him
It is a "Sonny" day
But, when storm clouds in life appear
My eyes cloud over, too
And I forget the Son's still there
Troubles obstruct my view
Perhaps should put "songlasses" on
Look at the Son clearly
To see his light and feel his warmth
Surround me lovingly
For Christ is the light of the world
Calls me to be light, too
To spread a little "sonshine"
In each thing I say and do
To brighten up and warm a world
That can be dark and cold
For basking in a "Sonny" day's
A thing that won't grow old
John 8:12
Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life."

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill can not be hidden."
John 1:5, 9:5
