The Single Life

Are you living the single life

Without a husband? Without a wife?

Is it something you chose to do

Or was the choice one made for you?

Do you find you're content to be

Alone with your own company?

The freedom to choose what to do

With nobody to answer to

To come and go without a care

To hang out in your underwear 

To always choose what's on TV

And basically do as you please

Or is the single life a place

That you thought you would never face

But, circumstances caused you to

Live life you never saw for you

Perhaps your partner has passed on

Or changed their mind, and now they're gone

Whatever reason you're alone

This is the life that you now own 

Might feel like dream you can't wake from

Yet, keep on living life of one

Is this new normal from now on

Alone with self from dusk to dawn?

By circumstances or by choice

We've need to hear more than own voice 

Not always live in solitude

But others in our lives include

So if the single life you lead

Companionship's a thing you need

God made us for community 

Not isolated or lonely

Whatever reason it's the case

As single - hate it, or embrace

God knows the longings of your heart

Contentment, guidance he'll impart

He loves you so and has great plans 

So, place your life within his hands

And know each step along the way

He's with you every single day


Zephaniah  3:17

The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save, he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will quiet you by his love, he will exult over you with loud singing


Psalm 37:4

Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart


Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future

  Choose Joy Whenever there's a choice to make Let joy be path you choose to take When love and hate are on the scale Let love be one that does prevail When anger - patience doth compete And people we tend to mistreat It's said we sow in what we reap So, sow in patience- temper keep When circumstances bring you down And all you want to do is frown Choose happiness instead, my friend Then soon you'll see your sadness end I know it's easier said than done Often more battles devil's won But get back up and try some more  For after all, God's won the war Choose kindness 'stead of getting back Instead of shortness, practice tact With every godly choice you make The devil's grip begins to break With practice, then quite soon you'll see Good choices come more easily Thus, love and joy will conquer strife Becoming hallmark of your life
