231213 I'm Ready
I'm Ready
Goodness, is Christmas almost here?
Seems to come quicker every year
Faster I go behinder get
I haven't mailed Christmas cards yet
The tree is up with only lights
Perhaps I'll decorate tonight
Still haven't baked a single treat
Wonder if I can find minced meat
It seems all the good sales I've missed
So, can't check anyone off my list
Instead, my gift list seems to grow
Forgot Aunt Sue and Uncle Joe
Family photo can't be shot
'Cause little Jimmy's head feels hot
And sister, Beth is sneezing, too
Dear Lord, don't let it be the flu
The office party's round the bend
Will Fred bring fruitcake yet again?
Wait, I've not got a thing to wear
Will they notice if I'm not there?
Not finished decking all the halls
Not ready for when company calls
Still haven't planned Christmas menu
Things still undone - more than a few
In spite of all, I have to say
I'm so ready for Christmas day!
For Christmas isn't 'bout baking
Or gifts, or about decorating
It's not about the stockings hung
Or even 'bout the carols sung
For I'm not ready if it were
Yet, I'm so ready, 'cause it's more
Ready to rejoice my Savior's birth
I'm ready to have peace on Earth
To fill each day with worshipping
To sing praise to the newborn King
Though not ready for snow or ice
I'm ready for the love of Christ
To warm each hardened or broken heart
For mercy and forgiveness to start
From earthly view, I'm running late
But spiritually, can hardly wait
I'm more than ready to bring praise
For coming of this holiest of days
Luke 2:11
For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior who is Christ the Lord
Matthew 1:23
Isaiah 9:6
