Christmas Memories

This time of year, I can't resist

Taking the time to reminisce

To think about each past Christmas

Creates for me a state of bliss

To take a trip down memory lane

Relive past Christmases again

As sweet as any candy cane

May magical feeling never wane

What joy to let my memory go

To childhood Christmases with snow

Could build a snowman like a pro

And shape the perfect ball to throw

Next, let my memory stop and pause

To days of elves and Santa Claus

Prancing on roof of reindeer paws

Child wide-eyed wonder these things cause

Then, as my memory moves along

I think of loved ones who are gone

Yet, all sing parts in Christmas song

Still in my heart where they belong

These memories all tell the truth

Of influence of Grandma Ruth

And if you ask me for some proof

She fills my house from floor to roof

For there's no Christmas soul like she

From cut stars on my Christmas tree

To stories read when we were wee

She carries special memories

My father, whom I hold so dear

At Christmas time, he feels so near

Memories of gourmet feast so clear

Always the highlight of the year

Memories are gifts from all of them

Yet, greatest gift's from Bethlehem

T'was worshipped by the three wise men

As all believers have since then

This Christmas with gifts 'neath the tree

Though met with childlike squeals of glee

Make worship of Christ priority

And central Christmas memory

Psalm 77:11

I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born, to us a Son is given...

Luke 2:11

Matthew 2:11
