240109 Dogs and Heaven

Dogs and Heaven

Not sure if all dogs go to heaven
Question for those wiser than me
But when I look in my dogs eyes
It's heaven that I'm sure I see

For in her gentle eyes perceive
A countenance so pure and sweet
And deep within seems to convey
A trust in me that's so complete

Devotion to me, evident
From her wet nose to wagging tail
And never judges or holds grudge
No matter how often I fail

Her love is not dependent on
Anything that I might do or be
Shear ecstasy when I come home
For she's thrilled she belongs to me

She follows me where e're I go
She's just like Mary's little lamb
Desires to always be close by
For she loves being where I am

And leaning close or in my lap
Picture of pure serenity
Wants nothing else in this wide world
Than to rest peacefully by me

There's heaven's lessons I can learn
By just observing my dear pup
Example of undying love
Mine in return, she too laps up

Imagine if the dog were you
And master was Lord Jesus Christ
Do you treat Christ like dog treats you
For pets offer some heavenly advice

Be loyal, trusting, quick to forgive
Devoted, grateful, eager to please
Content to be by Master's side
Like dogs, we should be all of these

And if we're lost, Master will seek
Regardless of how far we roam
Then scoop us up and hold us close
Safe in his arms, he'll bring us home

I thank you, Lord that I've been blessed
With devotion of furry companion
I give her love and security
In return, gives me a glimpse of heaven

Rest in peace, dear, Callie Mae
You will be deeply missed.

Psalm 63:8
My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me

James 4:8
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you

Psalm 5:11, 73:28
