240110 Change

Change

I really don't think I like change
It makes me have to rearrange
The plans I had within my head
For unexpected ones, instead

Feels better when things stay the same
It keeps me calm; it keeps life tame
There's comfort in the day to day
Assuming things will stay that way

But change occurs in every life
Some change brings joy; others bring strife
Some change we've chosen eagerly
While others have come forcefully

Is there good way to handle all
When welcome or unwelcome call?
My tendency is to resist
But changes seem to just persist

So attitude toward change must change
And seek contentment in exchange
For stress of life's uncertainty
Since change's an inevitability

Can I take on change face to face
Perhaps even learn to embrace?
Contentment found in every day
Despite all that change throws my way?

Its fear stems from lack of control
And how your life it can steamroll
But also change can bring new growth
Joy and excitement; even both

Give up control to One whose plans
Were always, ever in his hands
Good plans for me he prearranges
I'll trust my God, who never changes

Hebrews 13:8
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever

Ecclesiastes 3:1
For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven

Philippians 4:11-13
James 1:17
Jeremiah 29:11
