It's No Surprise 

It's no surprise you flunked that test
You know you didn't try your best
Instead, you wasted time in play 
So, no surprise you scored that way

It's no surprise you've put on weight
Did you just see how much you ate
And if you sit on couch all night
Don't be surprised when jeans are tight

It's no surprise you're running late
From things you don't anticipate 
If don't allow for extra time
Don't be surprised when you're behind

It's no surprise things are a mess
Have too much stuff; you need way less
Don't have a place to store it all
Yet, not surprised you're at the mall

It's no surprise you're feeling blue
At all that life has thrown at you
When sunny skies have turned to gray
Don't be surprised you feel that way

It's no surprise that you are mad
With lousy attitude you've had
You've set yourself up for  bad day
Don't be surprised when it's that way

It's also no surprise at all
No matter how often you fall
God's there to help you up again 
For none of its a surprise to him

He's not surprised when you fall short
In fact, he's nothing of the sort
When folly or sin cause disgrace 
Don't be surprised when God shows grace

To God, nothing is a surprise 
He sees all things through loving eyes
This truth brings hope and comfort, too
His goodness shouldn't surprise you

There's evidence where e're you gaze
Of surprising ways He's blessed your days
Of ways He's loved and cared for you
You'll be surprised  - there's quite a few

And as you notice, gratitude
Will purify your attitude 
And you, too, will have loving eyes
But that comes as no big surprise

  Choose Joy Whenever there's a choice to make Let joy be path you choose to take When love and hate are on the scale Let love be one that does prevail When anger - patience doth compete And people we tend to mistreat It's said we sow in what we reap So, sow in patience- temper keep When circumstances bring you down And all you want to do is frown Choose happiness instead, my friend Then soon you'll see your sadness end I know it's easier said than done Often more battles devil's won But get back up and try some more  For after all, God's won the war Choose kindness 'stead of getting back Instead of shortness, practice tact With every godly choice you make The devil's grip begins to break With practice, then quite soon you'll see Good choices come more easily Thus, love and joy will conquer strife Becoming hallmark of your life
