240122 Winter Warmth

Winter Warmth

The dead of winter feels so bleak
So, warm and cozy bed, I seek
The northern wind is bitter cold
Next arctic blast has been foretold

The school children all hope it snows
But I just want to feel my toes
Outside, it sounds like winter moans
I feel the cold inside my bones

Been praying my pipes haven't froze
It seems I'm wearing Rudolph's nose
I see my breath in frosty air
So glad I have long underwear

Despite how cold it is outside
There's warmth I find can't be denied
The kind that radiates within
In spite of what the weather's been

It wraps me like a cozy quilt
As when a roaring fire's built
Warms me like sip of honey tea
A warmth that just envelops me

And though it is hard to explain
It washes over me like rain
When friends I haven't heard from call
To talk about nothing at all

I feel it when I reminisce
Or when loved ones I hug and kiss
It's felt within a soft caress
When thinking 'bout how I am blessed

A warmth that belies frigid weather
When family members get together
To enjoy each other's company
To love others, and they love me

A warmth that breaks through winter's chill
When know I'm living in God's will
To feel my spiritual temperature rise
When praising God with hands held high

To know I'm God's beloved child
Makes coldest winter days seem mild
For I feel warm, though world's frosty
'Cause Holy Spirit lives in me

So, in a world that's cold and gray
I'll seek to spread some warmth today
To share my faith by how I live
And thusly Jesus' warmth to give

1 Peter 1:22
Love each other with a warm love that comes from the heart...

Ecclesiastes 4:11
Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone?

Proverbs 31:21
Psalm 147:16, 148:8
