 The Helper

Mr. Fred Rogers used to say
Look for the helpers in your day
When you need aid or you have doubt
That's when the helpers you seek out

Look for those who will lend a hand
For they're the ones that understand 
Since chances are that they're the kind
Who were in need of help sometime

A helper has a servant's heart
When work needs doing, they just start
Don't wait around until they're asked
Or till specific job they're tasked

A helping spirit takes the lead
For they are quick to see a need
How do you know a servant's heart?
No hesitation's on their part

Compassion is their middle name
Their attitude -- "you'd do the same"
See, helpers are the ones who care
Thus, share God's love when burdens share

Christ was a helper, as we know 
Helped poor and sick where e're did go
As word got out, the crowds did come
For they learned where their help comes from

And still today the same is true
A helper, Jesus is for you
God's love and caring through Christ came
Receive it all in Jesus name

And then go out and do your part
To help others with servant's heart
Just see a need, and then help, too
For that's what Christ calls us to do

  Choose Joy Whenever there's a choice to make Let joy be path you choose to take When love and hate are on the scale Let love be one that does prevail When anger - patience doth compete And people we tend to mistreat It's said we sow in what we reap So, sow in patience- temper keep When circumstances bring you down And all you want to do is frown Choose happiness instead, my friend Then soon you'll see your sadness end I know it's easier said than done Often more battles devil's won But get back up and try some more  For after all, God's won the war Choose kindness 'stead of getting back Instead of shortness, practice tact With every godly choice you make The devil's grip begins to break With practice, then quite soon you'll see Good choices come more easily Thus, love and joy will conquer strife Becoming hallmark of your life
