240527 Memorial Day

 

Memorial Day 

In memory of those who served
And died within their service 
They served our country, that is true
It's also true they served us

Their sacrifice was ultimate 
Their families bore the pain
They gave their all with selflessness
Did not come home again

We honor them Memorial Day
For serving willingly
For causes bigger than themselves 
To keep our country free

We wave flags, wear their colors, too
Perhaps have a parade
But none of that's sufficient thanks
For debt that they have paid 

No "thank you" can be properly said
To those no longer here
But, can remember what they've done
Reflect on it each year 


As comfort to all those who grieve
I hope you know, and so believe 
That Jesus understands your price
For, he too knows of sacrifice 

So, enjoy the freedoms of this life
But remember, too, the sacrifice 
Of those who fought with bravery
And each military family.

John 15:13
There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friend

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of others

  Choose Joy Whenever there's a choice to make Let joy be path you choose to take When love and hate are on the scale Let love be one that does prevail When anger - patience doth compete And people we tend to mistreat It's said we sow in what we reap So, sow in patience- temper keep When circumstances bring you down And all you want to do is frown Choose happiness instead, my friend Then soon you'll see your sadness end I know it's easier said than done Often more battles devil's won But get back up and try some more  For after all, God's won the war Choose kindness 'stead of getting back Instead of shortness, practice tact With every godly choice you make The devil's grip begins to break With practice, then quite soon you'll see Good choices come more easily Thus, love and joy will conquer strife Becoming hallmark of your life

Let Others Do It Don't really want to put self through it And so I'll just let others do it I'm certain it's too hard for me Sure others can more easily  Don't want to put the effort in Thus, wait for others to begin Not my responsibility  So, really don't depend on me No interest in taking the lead So, wait for others to proceed Though help is needed for a task Don't have the time, so please don't ask Need someone to sit on committee  Look anywhere, but don't look at me I have no interest in the least Besides, don't have the expertise  Ever notice when there's work to do It's often left to just a few The others somehow must be lead Or they'll just stand around instead Perhaps they are a lazy lot  That might be true, but it might not For certainly, there's those that shirk Responsibility and work For some, it's lack of confidence  So initiating makes them tense A fear that they may not succeed Disables them, so don't proce...
