240603 Waiting

 Waiting

Most waiting feels like agony
Thus, I don't do it graciously
Instead,  tend to fuss and complain
And roll my eyes, or show distain

For those who won't move things along
Or anything that takes too long
I live my life so hurriedly
So, do my waiting anxiously

Waiting's a hard thing to go through
Something thing most people hate to do
Perhaps it's 'cause we don't know how
Prefer to have what we want now

Waiting's a thing, I have to say
That we must all do every day
For few things happen instantly
While others drag on endlessly

We wait for our coffee to brew
We wait for trains and airplanes, too
For weekends,  traffic lights to change
Our waiting covers quite a range

We wait for letters in the mail
May even wait for ship to sail
We have to wait in check out lines
In fact, we're waiting all the time

Waiting can make us tense or bored
But what if waiting on the Lord
Do we behave in loving way
When waiting for what God will say

Or do we stomp our feet and whine
Because He's taking too much time
Want answers now; not wait til later
But, how to be a godly waiter

Not throw up hands, with scowl on face
But extend other waiters grace
To seek the lessons in the waiting
Not simply as a thing we're hating

So, God I seek you and I pray
You'll teach me waiting in Your way
Lord, help me to wait patiently
With calmness and maturity
Remind me always as I wait
That you, dear God are never late
To wait's a part of your good plans
For time itself's within your hands
