240604 Broken Pieces

 Broken Pieces

How do you take the broken pieces
And make them whole again
Is there a way a shattered heart
Can truly ever mend

How can you even dare to dream
When none of yours come true
Or ever hope that better days
Will somehow come to you

How do you see bright future
If your past gets in the way
When you're broken into pieces
And it seems that's how you'll stay

Can broken things be used again
Or simply go in trash
No longer having value
Wait a minute; not so rash

For some things require breaking
To be put to proper use
Though that seems counterintuitive
It's the plain and simple truth

For scrambled eggs won't happen
If first you don't break a shell
And once your fever's broken
On the way to feeling well

It's from the broken pieces
A mosaic comes to be
Until an acorn's broken
Can't grow into an oak tree

What of the broken pieces
Of a dream, a life, a heart
Can any good come of them
How to fix them; where to start

Start with the One who made them
Both your heart, your life, your dreams
His love can put the pieces back
And mend up all the seams

With trust and faith, God takes each piece
For His will, He'll use each one
Then, just like a mosaic
Something beautiful shall come
