 Impulsivity

Is impulsivity a sin?
Seems cause of troubles I've been in
To act without thinking it through 
Is often not the thing to do

For when we act impulsively 
End up where we don't want to be 
Perhaps in mess, or even worse
When did not follow prudent course

At times, know spontaneity 
Can cause excitement, certainly
But in matters of great import
Perhaps should be spectator sport

Bad consequences can apply
When making choices on the fly
Just slow things down and contemplate 
For sometimes planning comes too late

Yes, thinking first's certainly wise
Yet, some can overanalyze 
Perhaps decisiveness you lack
And so you simply fail to act

To jump the gun or fail to load it
Act on impulse or instead slowed it
Whatever tactic you decide
Let God in heaven be your guide

For often, God asks us to wait
When our impulse says it's too late
Thus, don't trust One who knows all plans 
Instead, take things in our own hands

After, we know instinctively 
When e're we act impulsively 
We've put ourselves outside God's will
As with Abraham and son, Ishmael

So, trust the Lord, and stay the course
No longer feel buyer's remorse
For, when you choose to ask God first
Your impulses won't make things worse

You'll find the more you seek the Lord
His wisdom will be your reward
And your new impulses will be
To love and praise him endlessly

  Choose Joy Whenever there's a choice to make Let joy be path you choose to take When love and hate are on the scale Let love be one that does prevail When anger - patience doth compete And people we tend to mistreat It's said we sow in what we reap So, sow in patience- temper keep When circumstances bring you down And all you want to do is frown Choose happiness instead, my friend Then soon you'll see your sadness end I know it's easier said than done Often more battles devil's won But get back up and try some more  For after all, God's won the war Choose kindness 'stead of getting back Instead of shortness, practice tact With every godly choice you make The devil's grip begins to break With practice, then quite soon you'll see Good choices come more easily Thus, love and joy will conquer strife Becoming hallmark of your life
