 On Fire

I want to be on fire for God
Oftentimes, I'm more an ember
When asked what day I came to Christ
Must admit I don't remember 

Perhaps like me, faith's starting point 
Don't know when people ask us
A path we walked towards gradually 
Not like road to Damascus 

I guess it doesn't matter if
Twas in blink of an eye
It only matters that I'm saved
Thus, my soul shall not die

And though it sounds exciting if
Faith came as great epiphany 
With lightning flash or thunderous roar
That's not how it came to me

I think that mostly my faith walk
Can be described as a slow simmer 
With infrequent moments of bright light
More often, twas a glimmer

Yet, want to be on fire for God
Serve him in mighty way
Do great things for his kingdom
Not complacent or blasé 

God, though my faith walk's been a stroll
Help me increase my pace
So I can lead others to you
To see you face to face

So, Father, stir the embers
Show me who I'm called to serve
Give me a blazing heart for you
That others can observe

Help me to witness boldly
Fill me with your divine power
For Christ may be returning soon
Though no one knows the hour

Know not how long I have on earth
Or when join the heavenly choir 
But let my faith be characterized
As one that was on fire!

  Choose Joy Whenever there's a choice to make Let joy be path you choose to take When love and hate are on the scale Let love be one that does prevail When anger - patience doth compete And people we tend to mistreat It's said we sow in what we reap So, sow in patience- temper keep When circumstances bring you down And all you want to do is frown Choose happiness instead, my friend Then soon you'll see your sadness end I know it's easier said than done Often more battles devil's won But get back up and try some more  For after all, God's won the war Choose kindness 'stead of getting back Instead of shortness, practice tact With every godly choice you make The devil's grip begins to break With practice, then quite soon you'll see Good choices come more easily Thus, love and joy will conquer strife Becoming hallmark of your life
