 Emotions

Emotions are such fickle things
First, soaring high on angel wings
Next, traveling so very low
To places only demons go

Not every place emotion's gone
Is place you can rely upon
For, most emotions do not last
And they can lead you nowhere fast

That being said, we must resist
To have emotions be dismissed
Emotion's a thing very real
And indicate true way you feel

Suppressing them, without a doubt 
Delays the way they will come out
Emotions that can't be expressed
Can lead to much unhappiness 

Emotion isn't something bad
They're something our Lord Jesus had
He wept, and laughed, got angry too
Felt each emotion that you do

The trouble comes when emotions lead
To actions done at lightning speed
When we react and don't think twice
Emotions can become a vice

For, when we let emotions rule
Satan will use them as a tool
To sow discord, fear, hate, or strife
As way to destroy peaceful life

Yet, know while his aim's to destroy
God uses them to bring us joy
Emotional's good way to be
When cause compassion and empathy

Joyful emotion is expressed
Through love, laughter, and happiness 
Yes, even sadness has its place
For tears can help our pain erase

Emotion's gift God's given, true
Use them, but don't let them use you
Let heart and mind work equally
Then praise the Lord, emotionally

  Choose Joy Whenever there's a choice to make Let joy be path you choose to take When love and hate are on the scale Let love be one that does prevail When anger - patience doth compete And people we tend to mistreat It's said we sow in what we reap So, sow in patience- temper keep When circumstances bring you down And all you want to do is frown Choose happiness instead, my friend Then soon you'll see your sadness end I know it's easier said than done Often more battles devil's won But get back up and try some more  For after all, God's won the war Choose kindness 'stead of getting back Instead of shortness, practice tact With every godly choice you make The devil's grip begins to break With practice, then quite soon you'll see Good choices come more easily Thus, love and joy will conquer strife Becoming hallmark of your life
