240807 Without Works

 Without Works

It's not about attending church
It's really about true rebirth
It's not whether you sit in pew
Instead, it's about what you do

It's not just saying " I believe "
In order for grace to receive
Of course, salvation comes that way
But scripture has much more to say

For faith without  work's surely dead
A truth that our dear Savior said
Though works alone won't save, it's true
Real love for Christ should transform you

We're called to be salt of the earth
Yet, without works, salt- we're not worth
May profess our Christianity
But, without works - in name only

It's not enough to just be nice
It's through our works that we do Christ's
For life's purpose to be complete
We must be Jesus's hands and feet

Ask God to show you how to be
Someone who's more than me, me, me
To open eyes so you observe
Someone in need that you can serve

Then, when someone to serve's been found
Get right to work; don't wait around
Expecting someone else to do
What God has clearly asked of you

Don't worry if you did it right
For even very smallest light
Can push back darkness; light the way
And bring joy to somebody's day

Dear Lord, before this day is through
Show me how I can work for you
And with each act for those in need
Remind me how I'm sowing seed
To reap harvest for your kingdom
In this world, plus the one to come
And with the works you call me to
May all the glory go to you
