240813 A Little Kindness

 A Little Kindness

We're living in such angry times
Seems hard for people to be kind
So many have a shortened fuse
Oh my, the language people use!

It seems the whole world is on edge
Upset by something someone said
Unwilling to hear differing views
Or in a flash, their temper lose

Yes, society is quite a mess
Living in  constant state of stress
Anxiety is through the roof
Something must change,  to tell the truth

This isn't how life ought to be
In angst, short-tempered,or angry
Can't walk around stressed all the time
The remedy is to be kind

A little kindness, heaven knows
Is better than coming to blows
Perhaps avert catastrophes
By just injecting niceties

Such sour faces going 'round
Try smiling, even though they frown
Tell others, " Have a blessed day."
Then, seek to make theirs be that way

When tempted just to lose your head
Speak words of gratitude instead
"Please," and " thank you," "I love you!"
Have magic in them; it is true

"Excuse me," "May I be of help?"
Are kinder words than when we yelp
And even when met with resistance
Let's convey kindness, with persistence

Let love and kindness hate replace
Can start by giving others grace
Not taking offense so quickly
Instead responding tenderly

Thus, we will model Savior's life
A loving light in world of strife
To light the way for those whose blindness
Could surely use a little kindness
