 The Christian Life

Is Christian life all sweet and nice
With blessings falling down like rain
Yet, followers of Jesus Christ 
Aren't spared life's suffering and pain

Is Christian life inoculation 
From all life's worries and it's cares
But, we all live in world full of sin
And aren't immune to Satan's snares

Is Christian life always smooth sailing 
With no big waves or stormy seas
God's children, too, get sick and ailing
We're never told it'd be a breeze

The Christian life- why even follow 
If it can't offer guarantees
For godly promises ring hollow
Instead, why not live as we please

Seems Christian life has no advantage 
It doesn't minimize life's woes
Can it prevent the devil's damage
Seems darkness only grows and grows 

In fallen world, Christian life's hated
God's morals require you take a stand
Sin's appetite not easily sated
And sin and hate go hand in hand

As Christian, must live like my Savior 
But look at how he ended up
I must say though, with greatest candor
Not sure I want to drink that cup

Yes, Christian life's no bed of roses 
But also carries great reward
For you don't have to be a Moses
To have relationship with Lord

For Christian life holds hope and promise 
Can't imagine the alternative 
Without faith, or like Doubting Thomas 
This life would feel too hard to live

The Christian life illumes the darkness
In ways that only Jesus can
So, if the Christian life we profess
Become the Savior's feet and hands

Though Christian life can be a hard one
There's nothing that I'd rather be
For honesty, when all's said and done
How blessed that my Christ lives in me

  Choose Joy Whenever there's a choice to make Let joy be path you choose to take When love and hate are on the scale Let love be one that does prevail When anger - patience doth compete And people we tend to mistreat It's said we sow in what we reap So, sow in patience- temper keep When circumstances bring you down And all you want to do is frown Choose happiness instead, my friend Then soon you'll see your sadness end I know it's easier said than done Often more battles devil's won But get back up and try some more  For after all, God's won the war Choose kindness 'stead of getting back Instead of shortness, practice tact With every godly choice you make The devil's grip begins to break With practice, then quite soon you'll see Good choices come more easily Thus, love and joy will conquer strife Becoming hallmark of your life
