241016 Discontent

 Discontent

The world has seven continents
About eight billion inhabitants
I wonder of those what percent
Live in the land of discontent

For it seems very evident
If any kind of time you've spent
You'll see a lot of malcontents
Who seem to like to whine and vent

Too many get their noses bent
By sticking them where they're not meant
A problem they could just prevent
If in their own business they spent

Lord knows that all this discontent
Is nothing that is heaven sent
But really, to a great extent
Comes from the devil to torment

In fact, this angst is so frequent
It seems to be ever present
Replacing joy, to great extent
Left wondering where happy went

Envy - the root of discontent
Forms in us hearts made of cement
Anger arrives without consent
Till love can hardly make a dent

I would not bet a single cent
This is the life our Father meant
For peace and love are his intent
All time complaining is misspent

Instead let's choose not to lament
Of all our whining, to repent
Offer God greatest compliment
To see each day as blessed event

Today, let's choose to implement
A heavenly experiment
Each time we find complaint present
Replace with praise, as Father meant

Dear Lord, you are preeminent
A God who is benevolent
In fairness, passes all judgement
You truly are omnipotent

So, thank you Lord for blessings sent
For all times troubles came but went
All ways your grace was evident
With you, there is no discontent
