241101 Scary Things

 Scary Things

On this day after Halloween
I'll share some scary things I've seen
Not just masked monsters at my door
But real things that scare me more

Some people who see those in need
Yet, pass them by; don't pay them heed
Or those that see hate on display
But, don't confront it; turn away

And how about this scary scene
Those that join in when folks are mean
Caring much more 'bout the in crowd
Than if they make their mothers proud

It's scary that for likes or views
The internet some will abuse
Exposing such depravity
In hopes of notoriety

If you like being scared then choose
To sit and watch the nightly news
It seems designed to cause us stress
Devoid of joy or happiness

Yes, there is much to see and hear
That causes one to live in fear
Conflict, hate, war's, and rumors of
The lack if empathy and love

So much in life can be scary
Our health or the economy
Yet, Bible tells us, have no fear
One time for each day of the year

Take heart; don't be depressed or glum
Christ said,  this world I've overcome
Fear not, don't isolate or hide
For I am always by your side

So when scary things come your way
Prayer is how to keep them at bay
Not meant to carry them alone
For Christ is sitting on the throne

Some scary things we can abate
If we show love instead of hate
For things seem scarier in the dark
So be a light - at least a spark

And trust the Lord of everything
He's mightier Than scary things
So, when fear knocks upon your door
Let faith answer, then fear no more
