241122 What To Do

What To Do

I know your Word says I'm to give
My troubles all to you
Total surrender; cast all cares
That's what I try to do

But what am I to do next
Simply sit around all day
And wait for you to fix it all
Or make it go away

Though I'm unsure what to do next
I am certain it's not that
For nothing good comes to my life
If all I've done is sat

So, rather than surrender
I pick up my cares again
Then carry them with worry
Till I'm back where I began

My heart tells me to trust in you
My head says, work things out
My soul is longing for some peace
From confusion and doubt

Dear Lord, is there a way that I
Can satisfy all three
That my heart, and head, and spirit
Can find peace and harmony

Jesus, I am for certain
You're the way, the truth, the light
But when am I to wait on you
And when am I to fight

I want to do your will; I do
And worry's not your way
So show me clearly how to live
And I'll do what you say

But oh, I see you've told me
For your Word says to "fear not"
Yet, in the stresses of the day
It's something I forgot

So, I'll keep doing your good work
The best that I can do
And when my worries reappear
I'll give them back to you
