250103 It's Your Choice

 It's Your Choice

Every thought that enters brain
Is not one you must entertain
Though thoughts will come, there is no doubt
You can choose what to think about

Each argument invited to
Attendance not required of you
When there is anger, strife, or rage
It doesn't mean you must engage

If others 'round are talking smack
No rule says you must answer back
There's no need to reciprocate
When people want to spread their hate

Likewise, even in little spat
You don't have to give tit for tat
If confrontation you don't seek
Then, must learn to turn other cheek

In much of life, we have a choice
Let hate and anger have a voice
Or choose to hold those thoughts at bay
Instead, seek peaceful, loving way

Can't always choose what's happening
Good attitude, though we can bring
Calm countenance in voice and face
Can help put anger in its place

No matter what each new day brings
We choose how we'll react to things
Angst, stress, and hate bring hate anew
Patience and love - contagious, too

As with all things, the spiritual side
Is something that can't be denied
For Satan plays an active part
In matters of a hardened heart

So, if you need help with this matter
And anger's stronghold want to shatter
May I suggest following proposal
You have God's strength at your disposal

Resist the devil and he'll flee
Choose love and peace and harmony
Let all those virtues have a voice
As child of God, that is your choice
