250125 Warning Signs

 Warning Signs

Too of't ignore each warning sign
That everything is all but fine
Brushing them off as no big deal
In hindsight learning, they were real

At the time though, we might downplay
In hopes bad feelings go away
Don't want to think something's amiss
And so the warning signs, dismiss

Gut feelings that don't quite make sense
Reject as of no consequence
Yet, if ignored, things can grow worse
Eventually, the dam will burst

Warning signs might be physical
A heads up that you're getting ill
A rash, a lump, an ache or pain
Or strange symptoms you can't explain

Sometimes the warning signs are those
That truly are under your nose
Something smells fishy; not quite right
Inducing in you, fight or flight

Hair on your neck stands up on end
Unnerved in ways can't comprehend
Tone of unease you try to skirt
Your senses are in high alert

Other signs occur subtly
Or slowly, so you fail to see
Them as the warnings that they are
Perhaps until things go too far

God's given us a warning system
An inner sense that comes from Him
Alerting us when things are off
So we'll respond if we don't scoff

His Spirit's placed in us to guide
Not to be fearful or to hide
Instead, a spiritual interaction
Used to compel us to take action

See warning signs? Then heed their call
Trusting that God is God of all
Thus, anything that you go through
Your loving Father is there, too
