 Know Your Enemy

We're in a battle, that's for sure
But, it's not a conventional war
For we're not fighting blood and flesh
Yet, we're embattled, nonetheless 

Thus, can't use earth's weapons of war
Since they won't help us to endure 
What we need are the heavenly kind
For battlefield's within our mind

Though flesh and blood's become involved
That's not how this war did evolve
For it did not begin on earth
T'was in the heavens had its birth

With any wartime strategy 
Must start by knowing enemy
For Satan's who we battle with
So we must learn just who he is

Not just a foe we should despise 
But, he's the father of all lies
For, there's not any truth in him
Temptor; cause of original sin

He's been deceiving from the start
His goal - harden the human heart
Control your life and ruin you
Till you become Lord's enemy, too

He uses every scheme and trick
But, seldom does he do it quick
The clever plan he does devise
Is little steps of compromise 

A falsehood here, lustful thought there
Some small deceits that we will bear
Then, bit by bit, we get sucked in
Soon, find we're living life of sin

Be wary, for he's good at it
Each godly thing he'll counterfeit 
He'll change our thinking for too long
Till good is bad and right is wrong

We need not play the game he plays
If we're wise to his evil ways
Resist the devil and he flees
When it is God we choose to please

It's for us that our Savior died
With angel armies on our side
The battle plan's  the Holy Word
Thus, final victory is assured

How Did I Get Here? How did I get here? I don't know Seemed sometimes fast, other times slow Though, does not matter what the pace Still wonder how came to this place How did I reach this point in time? Reality of it's so sublime For most of journey was uphill Through hard fought land, yet, I'm here still How did I get from there to here? In baby steps year after year?
