 The Single Life

Are you living the single life 
Without a husband, without a wife
Is it something you chose to do
Or was the choice one made for you

Do you find you're content to be
Alone with your own company 
The freedom to choose what to do
With nobody to answer to

To come and go without a care
To hang out in your underwear
To always choose what's on TV
And basically, do as you please

Or is the single life a place 
That you thought you would never face
But circumstances caused you to
Live life you never saw for you

Perhaps your partner has passed on
Or changed their mind, and now they're gone
Whatever reason you're alone 
This is the life that you now own

Might feel like dream you don't wake from
Yet, keep on living life of one
Is this your normal from now on
Alone with self through dusk from dawn

By circumstances or by choice 
We've need to hear more than own voice
Not always live in solitude 
But others in our lives include

So, if the single life you lead
Companionship's a thing you need
God made us for community
Not isolated or lonely

Whatever reason it's the case
As single - hate it, or embrace
God knows the longings of your heart
Contentment, guidance he'll impart

He loves you so, and has great plans
So, place your life within his hands
And know each step along the way
He's with you every Single day

How Did I Get Here? How did I get here? I don't know Seemed sometimes fast, other times slow Though, does not matter what the pace Still wonder how came to this place How did I reach this point in time? Reality of it's so sublime For most of journey was uphill Through hard fought land, yet, I'm here still How did I get from there to here? In baby steps year after year?
