250311 War

 War

You ever feel you're in a war
Yet, not sure what you're fighting for
Or furthermore  you're not sure who
Is on opposing side of you

All that you know is life's a fight
In state of conflict, left and right
Emotions, body often tense
Somehow you must mount a defense

Need first know who, what, where, when why
'Fore choosing on which hill to die
This war is one that's very old
It is a battle for your soul

It all began in heaven above
With one who chose envy o'er love
From that day forth, through all of time
It's been evil versus divine

You're in this battle every day
With what you do, and hear, and say
Your heart and soul are both at stake
With life decisions that you make

To live for only earthly thrill
Or to surrender to God's will
In world's lusts we've become enmeshed
Yet, our war's not with blood and flesh

At root, this is a spiritual war
A truth God's Word does underscore
Weapons of hate - not fought with these
This war must be fought on our knees

Yes, prayer is where the fights begun
Since enemy's a cunning one
With prayer's resistance, he will flee
This war shall end in victory

With angel armies on our side
The enemy's nowhere to hide
A fact established before time
For Lord says, "Victory is mine!"
