250326 Trust God

 Trust God

I trust you, Lord, with all my heart
To say that is the easy part
But truly, when it gets down to it
A wholly different thing to do it

Seems easier to trust myself
And trust in God, store on a shelf
His better path, I just impede it
When I don't trust him, "till I need it"

Ridiculous to think that way
To take it out, then put away
To use it just occasionally
When I have reached the end of me

To merely turn trust on and off
Of his divine power 'tis to scoff
Never mind God, I'll handle this
His lordship over me, dismiss

Not only that, it's so unwise
To only trust what's seen with eyes
For is that a strong faith at all
Or fragile as a paper doll

Chance for success is none to slim
When I don't put my trust in Him
For faith the size of mustard seed
Is only the amount I need

Dear Father, give me eyes to see
That you are wholly trustworthy
And when I've trusted myself first
It oftentimes makes matters worse

So, Lord, will you please remind me
To come to you initially
For each time I put faith in you
You've proved your character is true

Yes, complete trust, you so deserve
As all-knowing, loving God I serve
And in return give peace of mind
All praise and glory, Lord is thine
