250404 For the Lord

 For the Lord

Whatever, Christ, I do for thee
Be done with true humility
All that's done in your holy name
Let n'er my goal be worldly gain

May my motives be pure and true
With all glory given to you
Not self-serving and for prestige
Or my own legacy to leave

Though gifts and talents I possess
Upon those laurels, will not rest
For I shall use them endlessly
To praise One who gave them to me

May all I do honor you, Lord
For serving you is my reward
Not grudgingly, but with delight
My efforts worthy in your sight

Let all my toiling feel like ease
Knowing it's done so you I please
May I do all the best I can
To walk your way, not that of man

Let my work be as for you, Lord
Not tics on some earthly scoreboard
Nor as a way to earn your grace
Or somehow, my sins to erase

So, when from your good path I stray
Help me get out of my own way
To then repent with contrite heart
Sure love and mercy you'll impart

May all I say, and think, and do
Be done out of my love for you
Thus, when my life on earth is spent
Be called your good, faithful servant
