250418 God's Friday (Good Friday)
God's Friday (Good Friday)
My Lord, my Lord, I can't repay
What you have done for me this day
Betrayed, tortured, hung on a tree
Endured it all for love of me
Can't comprehend such sacrifice
When I've trouble just being nice
A love so deep, so true and strong
To even those who did you wrong
I cannot wrap my mind around
A love displayed that's so profound
That you'd endure such agony
And do it all so willingly
Accepted what you must go through
For you saw what it all led to
The countless souls your death would save
And victory over the grave
But, oh, the weight your shoulders bore
So we could live forevermore
The piercing of your hands and feet
Your earthly purpose now complete
Withstood humiliation, shame
So book of life could bear my name
Wore back of stripes and thorny crown
Those lost in sin can now be found
This God's Friday and each day since
Reflect on its significance
Lest we forget or start to doubt
What Jesus' love is all about
Dear Lord, my Lord, I can't repay
What you have done for me this day
You paid a debt that I accrued
All praise and honor you are due
Help me acknowledge the great price
By living life of sacrifice
Thus, try my best to love like you
For that is what I'm called to do
