250426 Complimentary

 Complimentary

A complimentary anything
Whether cup of coffee or a meal
Can seem to brighten up our day
Even improve the way we feel

Who doesn't love salsa and chips
When given complimentary
For after all, it's always great
When we get anything for free

Dispensing compliment's free, too
It costs the giver not a thing
Each kind word of acknowledgment
What joy to others it does bring

A compliment sounds oh so sweet
Like joyous music to the ears
It shows another noticed you
Especially when it's sincere

Today, I'd like to challenge you
As you are going 'bout your day
To make an opportunity
Sincerest compliments to pay

If shy, start with a word or two
"Great job," "Nice dress," "I like your smile!"
Then, when you see what joy you bring
You'll want to go the extra mile

You'll look for people e'er you go
That you can bring some sunshine to
Seek those that seem to need a lift
And in the process, lift you too

And while you're at it, don't forget
To compliment those close to you
For any kind, uplifting words
Are something that loved ones need, too

Since we are called to be the light
In this dark world in which we live
Then, one way for that to be done
Is in the compliments we give
