 Thoughts and Prayers

To a fallen world, when a tragedy strikes
Saying "thoughts and prayers" is a trigger
No matter how big the crisis may be
Don't they know that our God is much bigger

Understandably with each new tragedy 
Everyone wants some action be done
But, those not aware of the power of prayer
Don't perceive it as the perfect one

For, the first place to start with all matters of heart
Is where thoughts are, and right away, pray
Perhaps absence of prayer is the way we got here
And without it, that's just where we'll stay

Yes, of course action, too, is required that's true
Father says faith without works is dead
So, it isn't too late to spread love, not just hate
For we know all too well where hate's lead

Lord, may our thoughts align
May yours also be mine
As I humbly seek you in my prayer
And whatever life brings
Keep me safe 'neath your wings
Knowing with certainty that you care 

So, when hurt and grief come
Comfort me till it's done
And remind me I'm never alone
Take my fears, make them go
May my faith ever grow
Knowing that you are still on the throne

Then Lord, work through my hands
To fulfill your good plans
To bring healing to world that's in pain
Seeking wrongs to make right
Fighting darkness with light
Until Jesus returns once again

In the Garden In my garden I find peace From all the troubles thrown my way My breathing slows, tensions release When digging in the dirt and clay To garden does not feel like toil Or work that I am forced to do It's joy to feel my hands in soil To grow things and watch life renew The weeds don't even make me pout Imagine each one as a care I pluck them up and throw them out Now gone as if we're never there What joy to watch new sprouts appear From bulbs I planted in the fall Their blooms filling my heart with cheer The tulips, daffodils, and all Each early morn while there's still dew And sun has just begun to rise I rush to see what sprouted new Each leaf and bud a sweet surprise  Then, carefully, I tend each one A little water, proper soil The right amount of shade or sun Such pleasant work, nothing can spoil You all are truly gardeners, too  A fact that perhaps you don't know You're sowing things by what you do And also reaping what you grow For when you pla...

Unearned Earn a promotion, earn a raise Earn touchdown for good football plays Earn gold medal or blue ribbon Earn leading role for play you're in Earn soccer trophy, scholarship  Earn respect in a relationship  Earn settlement in legal suit Earn recognition playing flute While every one of those is nice Won't earn your way to paradise  It's not something you can work for Only one way opens that door It's a free gift!
