250603 Mind Reader

 Mind Reader

Never been good at reading minds
Nor great at reading between lines
Don't have a fondness for those games
Would rather you just say things plain

For when you say things most plainly
With love, tact, and diplomacy
Then, message comes through crystal clear
No miscommunication here

See, if there's failure to converse
Assumptions made, or even worse
Anger, resentment,  tend to grow
Since, if didn't tell them, they don't know

Perhaps the silent treatment give
But, is that how you want to live
You think at least that keeps the peace
Yet, price of silence can be steep

Of course, there's always angry way
To say the things you need to say
But, there is a loving way too
To speak what's important to you

It's unfair to expect them to
Just read your mind since they know you
'Cause half the time you don't know either
So why should they be a mind reader

Thus, if respect someone at all
Then speaking should be easy call
For, if you trust them you know they
Will love no matter what you say

And in the end then speaking frank
Is something mature parties thank
Even if what's said is tough
Kind honesty should be enough

Thank God he won't require you
To read his mind; for Bible's true
Word of how Lord thinks and he feels
His true intent, always reveals

So, darling share your thoughts outright
And bring true feelings into light
If said with loving honesty
I promise they'll be safe with me
