230810 Choices Made

Choices Made

In some decisions, have no voice

Most things, though, are a matter of choice

We choose our friends, what clothes to wear

Can choose color and style of hair

We choose careers, to buy a house

What car to purchase, choose a spouse

We choose which movie we will see

What books to read from the library

We choose what to prepare for dinner

In sports, we hope we choose a winner

While some choices carry more weight

Like when to choose the wedding date

Others are not of great import

Like choosing if sock drawer to sort

Some are like ripples on a pond

Effects keep going on and on

Not just impacting what you do

Affect lives of others, too

Some can affect things endlessly

Like, if to start a family

Or what career should you pursue

Whether or not to say "I do"

Sometimes, we're not sure what to do

But, not choosing is a choice, too

For if some choices we delay

A choice could be made anyway

For just because no choice we pick

That does not mean the end of it

While we delay, the world still spins

And choice or no, outcome begins

Of course, the greatest choice in life

Is not the choice of husband/wife

It's not the choice of where to live

Or to which charity you give

It's not the choice of bigger car

For, this choice is biggest one by far

It's not the choice of right or wrong

Not even which church to belong

The greatest choice you'll ever make

Has your eternity at stake

To choose to follow Jesus Christ

Join him one day in paradise

If you've already made that choice

Then, know all heaven does rejoice

But, if you still sit on the fence

Know that's not without consequence

For no choice, really is still one

Then comes a time when you'll have none

So do your research; start today

Don't save it for a rainy day

For when rains come and skies grow dark

You may wish you had built an ark

Deuteronomy 30:19

This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live

Joshua 24:15

James 1:5

Matthew 6:33

Joel 3:14
