Timid/Bold


Why are some folks content to be

Simply on the periphery

Perhaps they're not content at all

But just too shy to get involved


Why are some souls so very meek

They find it difficult to speak

Express opinions or converse

To talk in crowds would be the worst


Some timid ones let others lead

Watch what they do 'fore they proceed

Overly cautious and unsure

Uncertainty behind each door 


While some are fearful of mistakes 

Won't try new things for risks it takes

So, play it safe throughout their life

Attempting to avoid all strife


To be on outside looking in

Though certainly is not a sin

And meekness can be a virtue 

Taken too far, can hinder you


In Christian life, if truth be told

Should not be fearful - instead bold

Live out your faith with energy

No meekly, shyly, timidly


But what if boldly's not your way

And fearfulness defines your day

How do you overcome your fear

Profess your faith so others hear


I'll share my personal testimony 

For shy and fearful defined me

Spent early years cowering and hidden

Wanted anything but attention given


Yet, facing each new circumstance

Began to develop confidence 

And 'fore too long, started to see

The gifts God put inside of me


Gifts he could use as witness to

What trusting God can do for you

For now, in boldness, I proclaim 

That Jesus is my Savior's name


May I direct you to same place

That is the source of all our faith

The Lord promises to equip you

For all that he's called you to do


So boldly approach the throne of Lord

For you're His child and most adored

He'll give you strength where timid was

To share Jesus's message of love


Hebrews 13:6

So we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me"


2 Timothy 1:7

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of sound mind


Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

How Did I Get Here? How did I get here? I don't know Seemed sometimes fast, other times slow Though, does not matter what the pace Still wonder how came to this place How did I reach this point in time? Reality of it's so sublime For most of journey was uphill Through hard fought land, yet, I'm here still How did I get from there to here? In baby steps year after year?   'Tis the Season  'Tis the season to be jolly With mistletoe, pine boughs, and holly Yet, what if jolly's not your mood  But melancholy, you exude What if the carols in the air Remind you of someone not there Or crackling fire's bright light and heat Can't chase the cold of empty seat What if season's not full of thrills But full of lack and unpaid bills Though sugarplums fill your kid's head You know they'll get little instead  Perhaps in place of peace, good will You have a loved one very ill So thoughts don't turn to season's din But doctors visits, medicines While others have house full of guests All you have though is loneliness  The kids have grown and moved away So it's not the same holiday How blessed if season's joyous one But it is not for everyone  For most December brings good cheer For some, it's hardest time of year Whatever circumstance you claim The Christmas message's still the same That hope came through a baby...
