231012 What If
What If
(From Worry to Worship)
What if they don't like me?
What if the check doesn't come?
What if the doctor's report is bad?
What if I fail?
What if this is all there is?
What if...? What if...?
It has been said that most of what we worry about never comes to pass.
" Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?" (Mt 6:25-34)
In fact, worry robs you of your hours and can leave you anxious and unproductive
for the work God has planned for you. (Mt 13:22; Mk 4:19)
And our greatest work for each day is to serve and worship our Maker.
So, how do we get from worry to worship?
What if we turn each "what if" from a negative to a positive statement in our minds?
What if we turn our worries of lack into praise of our abundance?
What if we focus not on our chance of failure but on our past successes?
What if we dispel our fears of acceptance with the truth of who we are in Christ?
What if we spend as much time in God's word and his promises
as we do worrying about the "what ifs"?
Philippians 4:6-7 holds the key and the payoff. " Do not be anxious..."
Dear Heavenly Father,
Today, I consciously and deliberately choose worship over worry. I praise you for your abundant blessings over my life. Thank you that I can safely cast all my cares on you and live this day with joy and peace.
Amen
