This World

We're living in this world, that's true
But really, we're just passing through 
For though the earth's the place we roam
It's really, truly not our home

We're only here a moment's time
On way to place that's most divine
Yet, while here, there's God's work to do
He gives us each a purpose, too

For, even though we're passing through it
We're not to be indifferent to it
So, while on this world's side of fence
We need to make a difference 

To serve others and be a light
As best we can, to do what's right 
The path to Jesus - lead the way
By how we act and what we say

For worldly lusts and cares are strong
And lead us where we don't belong 
So, pray for strength and God's guidance 
To withstand this world's influence 

Yet, earth's not just a holding place
'Til we see Jesus face to face 
There's beauty, love, and joy within it
Not meant for heaven to begin it

For, God gives us these earthly treasures 
As blessings and for his own pleasure 
All proof that he loves and adores us
Glimpse of what heaven has in store for us

While feet are still on solid ground 
Enjoy the blessings that abound
Yet, also keep eyes toward the goal
For this world isn't all, we know

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior,  the Lord Jesus Christ

  Choose Joy Whenever there's a choice to make Let joy be path you choose to take When love and hate are on the scale Let love be one that does prevail When anger - patience doth compete And people we tend to mistreat It's said we sow in what we reap So, sow in patience- temper keep When circumstances bring you down And all you want to do is frown Choose happiness instead, my friend Then soon you'll see your sadness end I know it's easier said than done Often more battles devil's won But get back up and try some more  For after all, God's won the war Choose kindness 'stead of getting back Instead of shortness, practice tact With every godly choice you make The devil's grip begins to break With practice, then quite soon you'll see Good choices come more easily Thus, love and joy will conquer strife Becoming hallmark of your life
