240501 Lack

Lack

Do we focus our minds
On the things that we lack
Or compare ours to others
And mentally keep track

They have more brains, more talent
Bigger house, better clothes
I need this; I want that
One of these; two of those

Do we lack self-control
Do we lack energy
Do we lack storage space
Are we lacking money

Could we get more things done
But we just lack the time
Do we lack empathy
Treating others unkind

Do we lack a direction
Lack of purpose or drive
Do we lack motivation
Lack desire to strive

When our lack is our focus
Then we soon fail to see
All the things we've been given
How we're blessed lavishly

For, it's where we fix mind
That determines  what's worth
Not what we have or we lack
Of the things of this earth

Thus, as children of God
Given all that we need
To be happy, content,
And in his plans succeed

So, with all that you lack
Pray for wisdom the most
For through that you will learn
Of what things you should boast

Boast not of what you have
Or the person you may be
Boast instead of the One
Who gives abundantly

He alone deserves praise
For he lacks not a thing
Hallelujah to Father,
Spirit, Savior, our King
