240508 What We Hold

What We Hold

A locket holds pictures
A belt holds up pants
A dance card holds place
For next partner to dance

Want to hold all your horses
Then, hold tight to the reins
A bookmark holds place
And a hanger holds planes

A barbell holds weights
Leather wallet, money
Ears and nose hold your glasses
So clearly, you see

A plate holds your dinner
A glass holds your drink
A brain holds your thoughts
When great thinking you think

What dear things hold your heart?
Where does your passion lie?
What makes you hold your breath
And with happiness sigh?

For the things you hold dear
Show the world real you
It's those things that hold value
You put effort into

Do you hold fast to possessions
All the things in your life?
Do you hold tight to family
To husband or wife?

Do you cherish the memories
Created each day?
Or hold close the dear friendships
You've made 'long the way?

Do you hold onto the Father
When the going gets tough?
Do you hold Savior's hand?
Know he's more than enough?

For faith says he holds yours
And will never let go
That's a truth to hold on to
The Bible says so

So, let's put life on hold
For a moment or two
And with gratitude, praise
All the Lord's given you

For to unlock true joy
Gratefulness holds the key
So, hold tight to God's love
Promises and mercy
