240628 What Luck

 What Luck

A four leaf clover, pot of gold
Are lucky things, so I've been told
A lady bug, the number seven
Are said to bring riches from heaven

A cracked egg with a double yolk
Means luck to superstitious folk
A cricket or a horse's shoe
Are both said to bring luck to you

A necklace with a lucky charm
Can't possibly do any harm
A lucky penny,  rabbit's foot
Are these the things where trust is put?

We cross our fingers, knock on wood
All done to make sure luck is good
We put faith in all kinds of things
In hopes through them good fortune brings

They really seem harmless enough
And mostly don't believe that stuff
Yet, sometimes superstitious lore
Makes you believe there's something more

Be careful you don't go too far
You can't see future in the stars
No amulet's your source of hope
Won't be found reading horoscope

Though sometimes you get lucky break
To trust in luck's a big mistake
While dumb luck can be known to tease
No fortune's found reading tea leaves

The Lord above and the Good Book
Are only places you should look
To see what will your future hold
Search there, not for a pot of gold

Not found in crystals, lucky charms
But in the safety of God's arms
No tarot card or ouija board
Will lead you to the risen Lord

It happens as a conscious choice
When faith and trust are given voice
For when you live your life that way
Each day will feel like luckiest day!
