240801 Forgive Me

 Forgive Me

Dear God, I ask you to forgive
The selfish way I often live
Forgive my lack of empathy
When other's hurts I fail to see

Forgive me also when I stray
From following your perfect way
And follow my own way instead
Or worse, the way the devil's led

Dear Father, I apologize
When I see with judgemental eyes
And of myself take haughty view
Not humbly, as I ought to do

Dear Jesus, I am so sorry
Your sacrifice; don't always see
When my approach's not one of love
But is more like a boxing glove

Forgive me my ingratitude
And times that my behavior's rude
My actions without pure intent
Of all of these, I do repent

Father,  forgiveness I implore
For all of these and so much more
For hidden sins that I don't see
Not just the ones done blatantly

Dear Lord God,  search me through and through
Remove all that displeased you
For when in true repentance am
You're not the Lion, but the Lamb

And so confession's sweet release
That brings to me its perfect peace
Sin's death and shame have lost their grip
Replaced with divine fellowship

So true forgiveness comes to me
Because of Christ on Calvary
So my sin, you no longer see
Through your great grace, love and mercy
