240806 Time For Generosity

 Time For Generosity

Seems more apparent recently
There's a lack of generosity
Sure, I know with this economy
It is prudent to be miserly

But the way I'm thinking's more sublime
Than giving others your last dime
Generosity of another kind
For your greatest resource is your time

You can always have an alibi
And believe your time's in short supply
But you can give time generously
If it is your priority

Yes, taking time for others is
Most loving way that you can live
For nothing shows love any better
Than making time to be together

I haven't got the time, you say
But what if it was their last day
Or yours perhaps, for we don't know
When Father says it's time to go

Jesus had little time on earth
He surely knew time's precious worth
He spent his loving, serving others
We should  same for one another

For time's how we truly connect
Not simply writing out a check
The way others are richly blessed
Is with the time that we invest

When I invest time graciously
It says that you mean much to me
Conversely,  opposite is true
When seems I have no time for you

Does not require hours on end
May simply be to phone a friend
To volunteer when seeing needs
The time it takes to do good deeds

To get your head out of a screen
Attend to others, so they're seem
To take the time to hold a door
To compliment, or do a chore

The list can go on endlessly
As Jesus's hands and feet we'll be
And Christ in us, the world shall see
When we give our time generously
