240810 Growth In Brokenness

 Growth In Brokenness

Seeds must be broken 'fore they grow
For that's the way of seeds, you know
Then, to the gardener's delight
Emerge from darkness into light

Can't happen any other way
If not broken, then seeds they stay
But, once they have, they'll start to sprout
And that's how new growth comes about

Where seed is planted's dark and deep
And though it seems the seed's asleep
In truth, there's changing from within
With brokenness, it can begin

Perhaps your pit feels dark and deep
And dreams you've had have gone to sleep
Remember that when you break, too
There's change and growth that you'll go through

Though brokenness's a thing we hate
Through it, new growth can germinate
For when planted in fertile lands
Our hope and trust's in Gardener's hands

For God takes even tiny seeds
And grows them into what he needs
Yet, sometimes brokenness must come
To further the Father's kingdom

Yes, he can take our brokenness
Produce a bountiful harvest
A crop of strength,  resiliency
Compassion, trust, and empathy

Of the process, don't be deterred
Be nourished in God's holy word
Growing and reaching for the light
Trusting the Lord will make all right

Dear God, broken's happened to me
Though not a place I like to be
I've seen firsthand how you can bless
Me while within my brokenness
And use it for your perfect plans
So, I place all within your hands
And, even this I thank you for
Shall sing your praises ever more
