It's really irksome, cannot lie
When contact someone - no reply
May be they don't return your call
Or don't acknowledge you at all

You speak, but cannot catch their eye
Not listening, so no reply
Instead, they're focused on a screen
Then you are left feeling unseen

Even stop speaking mid-sentence
But it is of no consequence
Because they never heard you start
Though you were pouring out your heart

They seem to care for you, then why
When you address them - no reply
Not answering, though not a crime
Makes you feel you're not worth their time

Like bees buzzing around their hives
All of us have such busy lives
But, if you want to know the truth
To ignore others  - no excuse

With strangers and of those we're fond
The least we can do is respond
Communication is the key
For relationships to stay healthy

That same frustration, I admit
I've felt with God a little bit
Can feel like talking in thin air
Sometimes I wonder if he's there

For I can speak to him or cry
In lament to him - no reply
At least that's sometimes how it feels
My words seem like empty appeals

Yet, if I talk but don't listen
Then Father's reply I'm missing
For every word I say, he hears
The ones of praise or those through tears

Be "yes" or "no" or "you must wait"
The Lord's response is never late
My heart knows this with certainty
When I reflect on past history

For looking backwards, I can glean
That I've been heard and I've been seen
All that I need, God will supply
All praise and glory's my reply
