241104 My Happy Place

 My Happy Place

It's in my garden I can sit
And contemplate my life
Except for an occasional weed
A place devoid of strife

Can sit upon my favorite bench
Enjoy a gentle breeze
Lulled in state of serenity
By rustle of the leaves

How many plans I've pondered there
How many dreams I've made
How lovely are the moments spent
Beneath the oak tree's shade

Wiling away the minutes
To the sweet song of a bird
Or peace of simply being
Where the world's noise - barely heard

I'm lost in the enjoyment
Watching little squirrels at play
Or digging in my garden
As they hoard acorns away

Relishing the quiet moments
'Fore day's hustling must start
And though day will be busy
I'll approach it with full heart

Oh, I am ever grateful
For this lovely place to go
And some quiet time with Jesus
Where my mornings can start slow

Jesus spoke to his own Father
In Garden of Gethsemane
And it is in my garden
That I hear him speak to me

I thank you, Lord  for blessing me
With all of nature's joy
A place where I recharge, rebuild
What world tries to destroy

Oasis from my worldly cares
If only for a while
A place to slow mind, heart and breath
And cause my soul to smile

I wish for you a happy place
Like God has given me
A place where you can hear the Lord
And what his will may be

A place where joy surrounds you
A safe haven, place of rest
A stress-free place of peace and calm
A sweet place of happiness
