241227 Rerouted

 Rerouted

I had my life perfectly planned
Not for a moment doubted it
Knew who, the what, the where, and when
Yet, circumstance rerouted it

I thought I knew my purpose
What my life on earth was for
Instead of walking through it
Found that God had closed that door

Was certain of my future
Exactly which road I would trod
The master of my destiny
Forgetting I'm not God

My problem was a major one
For I made all the plans
Too often, not including God
Or life placed in his hands

Yet, when I give it all to him
My path's often rerouted
He always leads to better things
And stronger faith has sprouted

God knows my path completely
For he sees all I can't see
So I can trust his detours
'Cause he knows what's best for me

So, even when uncertain
And my road map seems unclear
I know that I don't walk alone
For God is ever near

And so I can step out in faith
My Lord, I've never doubted
And all my plans are in safe hands
Even when they're rerouted
