250210 The Road You Travel

 The Road You Travel

Every life's a journey
Each one travels their own road
Sometimes, the trek is one of ease
Other times, carry a load

May feel like endless traffic jam
Frustrating and slow going
Causing drivers to lose their cool
And car horns to start blowing

While other times, the open road
Extends for miles and miles
The journey's such a pleasant one
Brings laughter and huge smiles

Some roads are clearly marked; well paved
Makes travel on them smooth
While others, in need of repair
Are rutted, bumpy, grooved

Some roads are downright dangerous
Leading to nowhere good
'Tis wise to read the warning signs
And avoid them if you could

No matter how you're traveling
Alone or with a friend
At times, your path is clearly marked
Sometimes, hit a dead-end

Though you can't always choose your road
Or your traveling partners, too
Your attitude while traveling
Is entirely up to you

Can sing along with radio
While waiting traffic out
Or, though it won't make traffic go
Can choose to curse and shout

Can make the most of detours
Seeing sights you'd not planned to
Or whine about delays it caused
Though there's nothing you can do

Can yell out in frustration
When get lost while homeward bound
Or calmly take it all in stride
Knowing home is always found

No matter what the journey
Or the road you travel on
You're never traveling alone
Your Father comes along

So, as you travel road of life
It's wise for you to learn
To trust the journey to the Lord
Every bump, pothole, and turn

Know He will guide you safely
Though it's far or wide you roam
To your final destination
Your heavenly home sweet home
